Waster Sorting and Processing Education in Fostering Environmental Care
Bekasi, July 13, 2024 – Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the commitment of companies and bussinesses to contribute to sustainable economic development, by emphasizing a balance among economic, social, and environmental aspects.
To encourage behavioral change towards an eco-friendly lifestyle, PT Sankyu Indonesia International conducted environmental education activities for their employees and families. This activity aims to educate employees and their families about the importance of preserving the environment.
In carrying out this initiative, PT Sankyu collaborated with the Lingkungan Hijau Community Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, as a trainer to provide training for PT Sankyu employees and their families. This environmental education initiatives conducted by SANKYU include a Go Green seminar, waste sorting education, workshops on making liquid and solid fertilizer from organic materials, and producing soap and candles from recycled cooking oil.
“The Sankyu Environmental Care program is one of the efforts aimed at realizing the SANKYU Group Vision 2030 Ideal Form, that is: To become a company filled with potential human resources that express gratitude to people, society, and the environment through its business operations. In order to demonstrate this gratitude toward the environment, PT Sankyu is commited to preserving the global environment through its business activities,” stated Taro Makino, Director of PT Sankyu, during his speech.
On the same occasion, Elma, the Department Manager of Cikarang Logistics Center and also the Chairperson of the Environmental Care program, explained that in addition to environmental education activities, employees’ families and children were also given the opportunity to tour the workplace and learn about the equipment used, including forklifts, cranes, etc.
“We also provided the opportunity for families to explore the work site and learn about the equipment used. The aim was to educate them so that both the families and children able to understand the daily work conditions of PT Sankyu Indonesia International employees. I was pleased and proud to see the excitement, especially from the children, who eagerly engaged in all the activities planned by the committee,” Elma said.
